Boys’ Basketball Team Ready for New Season

By Eric Jansky (Correspondent) After last year’s record of 4-16, The boys’ basketball team plans to work harder, make the needed improvements, and beat last year’s record. There have been some changes in the coaching staff this year as the Junior Varsity coach, Colin Murphy, has decided to coach the boys varsity team at Ashland High School. The varsity assistant coach Josh Coran decided to fill that role of the JV coach. This leaves Andrew Ferguson as a solo head coach this year. Coach Ferguson is all about hard work and effort and consistently urges kidds to improve year after year. With the talented players from last year, Coach Ferguson’s goal was to make it to the State Tournament and hang a banner in the gym. Roughing the Passer

By: Jesse Cook (Sports Editor) Aaron Rodgers calls out a play to his offense from the shotgun formation. He takes the snap and rolls out right. Anthony Barr pursues him. Rodgers snaps a bullet pass to Martellus Bennett who drops it, immediately cursing his apparent butterfingers. Barr stands up and walks away. Rodgers is down on his back. The Green Bay Packers’ quarterback has a broken clavicle and is out for the rest of the 2017-18 season. Some people say that the new “roughing the passer” rules in the NFL go overboard, but situations like Barr’s hit on Rodgers indicate otherwise. Rodgers had already thrown the football by the time Barr smashed his purple helmet into the quarterback’s collarbone. Obesity is a Result of Lifestyle

By: Ariella Levy (Contributor) When given the choice to walk five blocks or take a taxi, many Americans opt to take a taxi. If given the chance to buy a five dollar hamburger or a ten dollar salad, most people would choose the hamburger. After school, instead of running around outside, many children choose to play video games. Obesity has increased by twenty percent for adults and roughly fifteen percent the past 30 years in America as a result of bad habits. People need to work hard to fight obesity by changing their lifestyle instead of just blaming it on other factors or just hoping to magically lose weight.
