Pope Francis Calls a Meeting

By: Tanvi Mittal (Correspondent) Pope Francis was recently accused of covering up several sexual abuse allegations by Archbishop Carlo Maria Viganó, the previous Vatican ambassador, who in a letter accused the pope of knowing from as early as 2013 about the abuse. In response to this, Pope Francis has called a meeting in February for all the Catholic bishops to discuss the issue of sexual abuse and determine ways to prevent it. This is unprecedented because no pope has ever called such a large scale meeting before to discuss the issue.

Serena Williams Subject of Controversial Cartoon

By: Rachel Hess Wachman (Correspondent) After Serena Williams, a world famous tennis player, argued with the umpire over a rarely enforced violation at the U.S. Open on Saturday September 8th, an Australian newspaper printed a controversial cartoon of Williams that has been labeled by many as both racist and misogynistic.

SHS Cracks Down on Academic Integrity

By Tarini Venkat This summer, Dr. Libano sent out an email to all parents and students at Sharon High School, with an attachment that included various ways the school would reinforce the importance of academic integrity, including using phones trays, using case scenarios, establishing an honor code, and spending $7,000 to pilot an anti-plagiarism program called Turnitin, which has been used by many colleges and even at the high school level.  See the letter here.
