Regardless of your political beliefs, it cannot be denied that this election season definitely had some memorable quotes, whether they be inspiring or questionable.
Freshman Caleb Gao thinks the most important quote of the campaign was said before the election even started. During the Access Hollywood tapes, filmed in 2005, Donald Trump infamously declared, “Grab them by the *****.” Gao says this quote is so memorable because “it shows how misogynistic [Trump] is.”
Sophomore Benton Bohman says the most memorable quote was when Donald Trump said, “I don’t care, I’m really rich,” when he was explaining why he doesn’t need donors or lobbyists.
“It’s important because it shows this man sees the presidency as a business opportunity.” Benton said.
Both senior Julianna McCann and library media specialist Mrs. Collins agree that the most memorable quote of the campaign was spoken by Hillary Clinton during one of the debates: “I think Donald Trump just criticized me for preparing for this debate. And, yes, I did. You know what else I prepared for? I prepared to be president. And I think that’s a good thing.”
Sophomore Lucy Beth says it was Trump’s quote “I’m not a puppet! You’re the puppet!” when Hillary Clinton accused him of being a puppet for Vladimir Putin.
Senior Phoebe McAlevey says the most memorable quote of the campaign is “definitely ‘nasty woman,’” referring to what Trump called Clinton during one of the debates.
Senior Jonathan Dickerman thinks that the most memorable quote was when Trump said, “When I am president, I will work to ensure that all of our kids are treated equally and protected equally. Every action I take, I will ask myself, ‘Does this make life better for young Americans in Baltimore, Chicago, Detroit, Ferguson, who have as much of a right to live out their dreams as any other child in America?”
Junior Melodie Arya says that Ben Carson actually uttered the most memorable statement during the primaries, when he took a break from his campaign saying, “I’m going home to get some fresh clothes.”
Arya says that this quote was so memorable only because “it was dumb and random.”
Senior Joe Katz says the most memorable quote was “when Hillary said during the debate, ‘It’s just awfully good that someone that someone with the temperament of Donald Trump is not in charge of the law in our country,’ and then Donald Trump responded, ‘Because, you’d be in jail.’”
Humanities teacher Mr. Fazzio says he thinks Trump said the most memorable quote during his victory speech: “I say it is time for us to come together as one united people. It’s time. I pledge to every citizen of our land that I will be president for all of Americans, and this is so important to me.”
Fazzio says that if Trump doesn’t keep his word, people will definitely remember this “the next time around.”
